So one of the things I said I'd never do, was ... buy a house. But I also never imagined a house could exist in a city. (Growing up in the projects and all). So I thought that a house meant suburbia. Then I realised that a house was not necessarilly four walls white picket fence... that it could be a rowhome. That not only took me by surprise, I was amazed that people would pay money for a house that didn't even have its own walls.
The last time I lived in an apartment building was 1997 through 1999 - the Roosevelt. I thought I was living in luxury... compared to the projects it is not really saying much - and it wasn't luxury. Though I WAS glad to finally have a place to stay. I was staying with my friend in South Jersey. End of freshman year of college came, and I realised that I didn't want to leave my job (at Radio Shack - !) but had no where to go.
Since I moved in with Kim in Queen Village, I've only lived in rowhomes. So I finally decided if I am going to live in a rowhome, I might as well own it...
At least I am just a walk away from Center City, but that might change in the future as I get older (right now I can't see that actually). I can't imagine having to have to learn how to drive just to leave your house! I guess that's just suburbia. But maybe as I get older, that's all I'll want. OK so I am trying to be open minded to myself here, and it's not working... yeah, not so much a country person myself.
