I can't for the life of me get vsftpd running standalone on anything greater than Fedora Core 2... even compiling from scratch, doesn't work. The only way I got it to work last time is to disable standalone mode, and run it through xinetd. GRRR what was really so wrong with wu.ftpd (don't answer that!)
